Meet the Gene Machine is a lively drama and discussion event designed by the Science Communication Unit at the University of the West of England to raise awareness of the ethical implications raised by advances in medical genetics. The drama is set in the not too distant future where genetic information about individuals is easily accessible. This is followed by a discussion with several interactive aspects allowing pupils to voice their opinions on the topics raised.
A CPD workshop is also available with this programme. It is designed to give teachers an opportunity to explore alternative teaching methods. which can be used to address topical and ethical science issues. The Resource Pack for this workshop can be accessed using the link below.
